Expected release: June 2026 Limited edition 1000 copies! This record is officially reissued on vinyl for the first time in over five decades. A stereo edition, pressed on heavy colored limited edition vinyl and comes with an extended Gatefold sleeve. Yusef Lateef is less well-known: a multi-instrumentalist and jazz visionary who combined global sounds with spiritual depth. Lost in Sound is one of his early albums, and his only album for the Charlie Parker Records label. The recording was made in New York on August 14, 1961 – 65 years ago. Here, Lateef focuses solely on the tenor saxophone as he moves away from hard bop towards more exploratory horizons. The sides feature a lesser-known but remarkably cohesive quintet: Vincent Pitts (trumpet), John Harman (piano), Ray McKinny (bass), and Clifford Jarvis or George Scott (drums). The eight-track set blends soulful swing with post-bop, and is highlighted by Pitts originals “Soul Blues” and “Trudy’s Delight,” alongside a live version of Charlie Parker’s “Dexterity.” A collector’s edition exclusive for Record Store Day 2026.
